What is the Lavender Law Career Fair and Conference?

  • An annual national career fair attended by self-identified LGBT law students, and over 150 recruiting law firms, LGBT advocacy groups, and corporations. The Career Fair is an all-day event on Thursday and is in its seventh year.

  • A conference held every year where the sharpest legal minds in the LGBT community gather to learn and to teach at dozens of panels, symposia, and courses on cutting edge litigation and legislative issues. The Conference is presented all day on Friday and Saturday and offers about 12 continuing legal education (CLE) credits to practitioners.

  • A forum for leaders in LGBT diversity within law schools and the legal profession to share information about LGBT diversity, advocacy, litigation and public education over the three day event.

What are the Benefits of Sponsorship?

  • The only national opportunity to demonstrate your organization’s commitment and support of LGBT diversity in the profession.

  • The only national opportunity to share your organization’s activities and learn about others’ ideas to develop better diversity demographics relating to LGBT self-identified attorneys.

  • The ability to feature your organization’s involvement in Lavender Law on your diversity webpage year-round to illustrate their commitment to LGBT diversity in the profession.

History

The first Lavender Law Conference was held in November 1988 in San Francisco at the Golden Gate University. The first Career Fair was held in 2002 in Philadelphia. Since the beginnings of Lavender Law, the Conference and Career Fair have grown exponentially. Each year the three-day event is held in a different city, and it brings together LGBT law students, practitioners, legislative analysts and advocates, and members of the judiciary. Speakers include internationally knows keynote presenters as well as distinguished legal scholars and nonprofit litigators. Panel discussions and intimate CLE workshops feature practice tips, current legal trends and historic achievements, all within a structure that features maximum networking opportunities.
